Nokia N76
Smartphones aren’t usually sexy. Like the brainy kids at school, they rarely match their clever-clever attitude with eye-popping good looks. The N76, however, is a price amongst smartphones…
Clad in metal and glass it feels hefty in the hand as well as performing well with tricky smartphone tasks. It’s got Symbian under the hood, so it’ll handle mobile office apps, TV streaming and even video editing with ease.
It also comes packing the same mapping software as the N95, although a lack of built-in GPS means you’ll need to know your destination, or use a Bluetooth add-on.
Front-facing music buttons make flicking through tracks a breeze, and a proper headphone jack means it’s genuinely useful as a MP3 player.
Those buttons can’t be customised though, and will only work with MP3s. Likewise, the camera is a bit of a let down, with no auto focus so grainy pictures are the order of the day.
Still, it’s immensely pocketable, and puts the lardy smartphone competition to shame with its sleek lines and top-notch construction.
Slap in a decent-sized memory card and you’ve got a perfectly serviceable MP3 player too. At least you’ll be able to use the same phone for business and pleasure, and that’s something few Blackberry owners can claim.
